Occupational Health and Safety Manager

DWB is seeking applications for an Occupational Health and Safety Manager. The position would be based out of our Prince George office.  The successful candidate will have post-secondary education in Health and Safety or equivalent and 7-10 years’ hands-on safety experience in a variety of industries including forestry, oil and gas, and mining, and be a Certified Registered Safety Professional or eligible to register.  

The incumbent will oversee the Occupational Health & Safety (OH&S) program which includes: managing our Safety certifications including audits, oversee the Joint Workplace Health and Safety Committee, provide leadership, guidance, and coaching to management and employees in developing and reinforcing a strong occupational health and safety culture.  The position will also be accountable for ensuring our health and safety readiness in pursuit of opportunities with different clients and industries.

Engineering Opportunities

 

Hydrotechnical/Water Resource Engineer

DWB is seeking applications for a Hydrotechnical/Water Resource Engineer registered with a professional association in Canada (PEng) and eligible to register with EGBC.  The incumbent will have 5-10 years of experience including extensive design experience in hydrology and hydraulics for both industrial and municipal applications. Experience with bridge hydraulics and river engineering as well as sedimentation/detention ponds, pump and pipeline systems, mine drainage systems, river/creek diversions, and channel stabilization and erosion protection works are an asset. Construction experience for hydrotechnical and water resource related projects is expected.

In addition to above, the following skills are critical to the role:

  • Technical excellence and proven field experience taking projects from concept to operation including construction supervision.
  • Proven time management, project management and organizational skills with a demonstrated ability to meet project schedules and budgets.
  • Working knowledge of relevant engineering design standards, codes and manuals, best practice guidelines, standard construction specifications, and engineering drawing standards including the Canadian Bridge Design Code. 
  • Demonstrated leadership, decision-making and coaching skills, especially your ability to train and mentor young professionals.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English including your experience in writing proposals, technical reports, and construction specifications.
  • Strong client relational skills and an ability to expand our services and business.

Construction/Civil Engineer

DWB Prince George Operations is currently seeking applications for technicians/technologists with a minimum of 4 years practical experience in ground surveys and some experience on highway projects as per the following requirements and responsibilities. Forestry based survey and layout experience will be considered applicable experience. GIS experience is considered desirable. Registration in ASTTBC or equivalent is preferred.

Requirements

  • Technical Diploma preferred with experience in construction surveying.
  • Physically fit, able to lift heavy equipment, willing to work in varied environmental conditions, remote areas, and varied hours.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills, attention to detail, reliable, organizational skills, dependable, sound judgment skills, and computer knowledge.

Responsibilities

  • Set-up and operation of total station, RTK and GPS equipment.
  • Follow directives of Supervisor to assist/coordinate survey team.
  • Prepare accurate field notes.
  • Manage crews with minimal supervision.
  • Process data.

CAD Techniciam

DWB is seeking applications for a CAD Technician based at our Prince George office.  The successful candidate(s) will have a combination of training and experience preferably in construction, civil works, structural design/detailing, or mechanical design/detailing.  Field experience in construction supervision, surveying or operating machinery is desirable.  The successful candidate will hold a certificate/diploma from an accredited engineering technology program and be competent in using AutoCAD and/or Civil-3D.  A desire to gain experience in the field on construction projects is necessary. Good working knowledge of standard transportation engineering practices is advantageous.

Intermediate Environmental Professional - Fort St. John

DWB is seeking applications for Intermediate Environmental Professionals proficient in scientific report writing and previous monitoring experience to fill positions in our Fort St. John office.

 The successful candidates will have a minimum of 5-7 years working in forestry, mining, oil and gas, and/or transportation industries with a current professional status in good standing or experienced technologists and must be able to thrive in demanding, fast-paced progressive work environments. Current experiences should include, but are not limited to;

  • Environmental Monitoring for Construction Projects
  • Erosion and Sediment Control (ESC) Plans
  • Construction Environmental Management Plans (CEMP)
  • Proficient identification of fish/wildlife/vegetation

DWB is seeking applications for two positions based out of our Fort St John Office.  

The Junior Forester Position is open to applicants with 2 to 3 years related field, experience in the areas of: cut block layout (roads or boundary), GPS traversing, Timber Cruising, or Ecological data collection. Preference will be given to applicants who are registered, or eligible for registration with the ABCFP.

The Forestry Assistant position is open to all applicants. The ideal candidate will be physically fit, enjoy working outside, and have a demonstrated interest in Forestry. No formal education is required.

DWB is seeking applications for Forest Professionals with Timber Cruising specialization for our Prince George operations. The successful candidate will be registered with ABCFP and have a valid class 5 BC driver’s license and 2-5 years’ experience preferred.   Equivalent experience will be considered.  The ideal candidate will have a combination of training and field experience in forest development activities including the development of cruise plans, operational timber cruising, quality control, data summary, the development of final cruise maps, and the compilation of cruise data and deliverables. This position generally encompasses both field (majority) and office duties. Work in camps settings is anticipated. The successful candidate may be expected to operate company vehicles and will be expected to work outdoors in adverse weather conditions.
